Our case-hardened grades are extremely well-suited for punching, fine-blanking, and cold-forming. This is mainly due to the microstructure and mechanical properties generated during the cold-rolling process, along with the tight shape and dimensional tolerances applied. When subjected to heat treatment, case-hardened steel components offer excellent core ductility, with outstanding resistance to wear in its surface layers.
Optimum austenite, ferrite, and carbide grain sizes and carbon formation in the raw base material, along with the steel's precise, application-specific mechanical properties, allow for use in challenging forming operations and short heat treatment periods.
The application of enhanced manufacturing steps, taking into account the shape of the component and the degree of forming required, allows for a significant reduction in draw-in at the part's circumference during stamping and fine blanking. The increased load-bearing surface in the cut may also allow for a reduction in strip thickness, and with it, weight and cost.
